Amrutham (lit. 'Elixir') is an Indian Telugu-language sitcom television series created by Gangaraju Gunnam.[1] The story revolves around a fictional restaurant in Hyderabad named Amrutha Vilas and its owners who find themselves in hilarious situations with their money making schemes. The show originally aired on Gemini TV from 2001 to 2007 with 313 episodes.[2][3]

A spin-off film titled Amrutham Chandamamalo was released in 2014.[4] Its sequel, Amrutham Dhvitheeyam began streaming on ZEE5 after 13 years from March 2020.[5]

- Amrutham
- Proprietor of 'Amrutha Vilas,' which he started with his childhood friend Anjaneyulu. His full name is Icchapurapu Ksheera Sagara Panchamrutha Rao. He is skeptical, inquisitive and an atheist. Amrutham is played by three actors in its run, namely, Sivaji Raja, Naresh and Harsha Vardhan.
- Amudala 'Anji' Anjaneyulu played by Gundu Hanumantha Rao
- An expert chef, Amrutham's best friend and a man full of ideas. Often comes up with quirky plans to boost their business which often end up failing.
- Sarveswaran 'Sarvam' played by Vasu Inturi
- Servant of Amrutha Vilas who is a migrant from Tamil Nadu.
- Gongali Appaji played by Sivannarayana Naripeddi
- Exploitative landlord who subjects his tenants to unreasonable penalties. He wears colourful shirts and an ancestral gold belt from where he derives all his miser.
- Sanjeevani 'Sanju'
- Amrutham's wife. Gulliable-yet-ambitious women. Played by many actresses in its run, including Jhansi, Anita Chowdary, Uma and Supraja.
- Amudala Shanta played by Ragini
- Anji's wife and working women, who help's husbands business occasionally.
Production[edit]
As many as eleven debutant directors worked for series, most notable being Chandra Sekhar Yeleti. Most of the episodes were written by Gangaraju Gunnam along with Vasu Inturi.[6]

Swathi Reddy born 9 April 1987 is an Indian film actress and television presenter. Her nickname and fame comes from her stint in the Telugu television show Colours, which was telecast on Maa TV. After playing supporting roles, she made her debut as a leading actress in the Tamil film Subramaniapuram 2008. Early life edit
Swathi was born in Vladivostok, Soviet Union now Russia. 2 She was named as Svetlana but later the name was changed to Swathi. 2 Her father, who was an officer in the Indian Navy, was training as a submariner in the Soviet Union. She has one elder brother named Siddharth. Her family moved to Mumbai and later to the Eastern Naval Command in Visakhapatnam, where she spent most of her childhood. 2 While studying in 11th class, she moved to Hyderabad. She enrolled at St. Mary s College in Yousufguda, Hyderabad and graduated in biotechnology.
After her EAMCET, she ventured into television at age 17 by hosting a show called Colors. Due to a positive response, the show was further extended and moved to primetime slot. She went on to present over 150 episodes. 2 After completing the first year of her graduation, she made her debut in feature films.

She made her debut in supporting roles. Her first film in supporting role was Danger, a Telugu Movie. It received negative reviews. Her next movie release in support role was Aadavari Matalaku Ardhalu Verule which released in 2007. That film was a hit. In 2008, she debuted as a female lead in her first Tamil movie Subramaniapuram. For her performance in Ashta Chamma she won the Filmfare Award for Best Actress – Telugu and Nandi Award for Best Actress. She made her debut in Malayalam with Amen which was a super hit. 7 Reportedly, Swati will work in Telugu Cinema in sequel Gitanjali 2 directed by Raj Kiran. 8

Swathi has been occasionally working as a voice actor and playback singer as well. In 2008, she had dubbed for actress Ileana D Cruz in the film Jalsa. In 2010, she gave her voice to an HIV/AIDS education animated software tutorial created by the nonprofit organization TeachAIDS. 9 In 2011, she turned playback singer, rendering her voice for two songs, Unbelievable and A Square B Square, for the soundtrack albums of her own film Katha Screenplay Darshakatvam Appalaraju and 100 Love, respectively.
She has also appeared in an advertisement for Cadbury DAIRYMILK. 10
